Weighed in front of you
You watch the load go on the scales and you see the reading yourself. Nothing gets weighed out the back.
Our yard is right here in Braybrook. Drive it in with any amount, weighed in front of you and paid on the spot.
We buy Copper, Aluminium, Brass, Stainless steel, Steel and heavy metal, Cable and wire, Car bodies, Lead, Batteries, Electric motors, Alloy wheels, Radiators, Catalytic converters, Offcuts, Site clearance.
You watch the load go on the scales and you see the reading yourself. Nothing gets weighed out the back.
Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.
Two hours after most Melbourne yards shut, 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement if you ring ahead.
A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Western suburbs
Metal Plus buys and recycles scrap metal at 159 Ashley St, Braybrook, in the middle of Melbourne’s west. Most of what comes through the gate is from around here: factory offcuts from Sunshine and Tottenham, depot clear-outs from Truganina and Laverton North, copper out of the old houses in Footscray and Yarraville, and builders’ offcuts from Point Cook, Tarneit and Melton.
Being this close changes how people sell to us. Plenty simply drive it in, with no appointment and no minimum at the gate. Factories and industrial sites have it collected, and trade sites that fill a bin have one swapped as it fills. Every load is graded where you can see it and paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Braybrook is not near the western suburbs, it is in them. A truck leaving our gate is in Tottenham, Sunshine, Footscray or Brooklyn in minutes, not in an hour, and that is the whole reason this yard is where it is.
What we see from here
Different regions produce genuinely different loads. This is what turns up from the western suburbs, and roughly who it comes from.
Production offcuts, drops, bar ends and swarf out of the manufacturing and engineering shops through Sunshine, Tottenham and Brooklyn. Regular quantity is worth a standing arrangement rather than one-off trips.
Depot and warehouse clear-outs, damaged racking, pallet cages, strapping and steel from the estates at Truganina, Derrimut and Laverton North.
Copper pipe and cable out of the older housing through Footscray, Yarraville and Seddon. Roof sheeting, old gutters and downpipes.
Scrap copper, grade by gradeOffcut reo, steel framing, ducting and conduit from the growth-corridor builds at Point Cook, Truganina and Werribee.
Structural steel, plant and machinery from industrial demolition across the west. Worth a call before the job starts rather than after.
Demolition scrap metalThe shed, the old trailer, the bathtub, the mower that has not started since 2019. There is no minimum at the yard, so a single boot load is fine.
How it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
The west is where Melbourne still makes and moves things. The freight and logistics belt runs through Tottenham, Brooklyn, Truganina and Derrimut. Heavy industry and petrochemical sit at Altona. Port-adjacent industry fills Brooklyn and Yarraville, and the manufacturing corridor through Sunshine and Ardeer has been turning out metal for a century.
Over the top of that is one of the fastest-changing residential bands in the city. Footscray, Seddon, Yarraville and Maidstone are full of weatherboards being gutted and rewired, and Point Cook, Tarneit, Truganina, Werribee and Melton are still being built. Both ends of that produce metal constantly: one strips it out, the other offcuts it.
What that means practically is that we see every kind of load from this part of Melbourne, from a builder with a trailer of old copper pipe to a factory clearing a shed. Neither is unusual here and neither gets treated as an inconvenience.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from this part of Melbourne.
Call 0452 220 422Faster than anyone driving from the other side of town, because we are not driving across town. Ring and we will tell you what the day looks like rather than giving you a window we cannot hold.
From factories and industrial sites, yes, and quickly, because we are already here. We do not collect from houses: the yard is open to you Monday to Saturday with no minimum at the gate, and from most of the west it is a short drive.
159 Ashley St, Braybrook. Open 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday, and outside those hours by arrangement, so you are not taking a day off to sell scrap.
Yes, and that is a lot of what we do. If metal is coming out of your site every week, a standing arrangement with a bin on the ground is easier for everyone than somebody running trailer loads down when it piles up.
You are paid on the spot, as soon as the weight is agreed. That is usually what people searching for cash for scrap mean. How a scrap metal dealer may pay is set by Victorian law and is the same at every yard; our page on the law explains it.
The rate is set by the metal, not the postcode: what it is, its grade, how clean it is and how much there is. Our prices per kg are published, and the same for every suburb. What being close does is save the trip. Ring or send a photo and we will tell you what to expect.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
