Why people use this yard

Weighed in front of you

You watch the load go on the scales and you see the reading yourself. Nothing gets weighed out the back.

Paid on the spot

Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.

Open till 6:30pm weekdays

Two hours after most Melbourne yards shut, 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement if you ring ahead.

No minimum at the yard

A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.

How it goes

Four steps, and you are back on the road.

A scrap metal yard and recycling centre in Braybrook, open to anyone with a load, from a car boot to a truck.

  1. 01

    Just turn up

No appointment and no minimum. The yard is open 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday. Outside those hours, ring ahead and we can arrange a time.

  2. 02

Drive in and we will point you

Someone will tell you where to pull up. If you are not sure what you have got in the trailer, say so, and we will go through it with you.

  3. 03

    Weighed while you watch

Your load goes on the scales in front of you. You read the figure yourself and you get it written on a docket.

  4. 04

    Paid before you leave

Settled the moment you agree the weight. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.

Before you come

What to bring.

  1. 01

    Photo ID

Required by law for scrap metal transactions in Victoria, for every seller, every time. Bring it even if you have been in before.

  2. 02

The metal, sorted if it already is

You do not have to sort it, we do that here. But separated loads are worth more than mixed ones, so if it is already in piles it is worth keeping them that way on the trailer.

  3. 03

A rough idea of what it is

You do not need to know your grades. If you are not sure what something is, that is what we are here for.

Want to know it is worth the trip first?

Send a photo before you load up and we will tell you what to expect for it.

Weighing and payment

You watch the scales. That is the whole policy.

The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

  • Your load is weighed where you can see it. Nothing goes out the back and comes back with a number on it.
  • You get a docket with the weight on it. Written down, in your hand, before anything is settled.
  • Grades are shown to you, not just quoted. If your copper is two different grades we will separate it in front of you and explain why.
  • Payment is settled on the spot. Once the weight is agreed, that is it. No invoice, no waiting.

Dawood is one of the nicest lads you’ll meet. Clearly communicated on the phone and was a pleasure to deal with. Had to get rid of these wheels asap and he took care of me with a fair payment.

Would highly recommend his service, easy and straightforward.

I recently had an old accident-damaged car that I needed to get rid of while I was in Bendigo. After searching on Google, I found MetalPlus in Melbourne, and I’m really glad I chose them.

The whole process was smooth and hassle-free. They were professional, easy to deal with, and offered me a fair price for my car. When I dropped the car off, everything was handled quickly, and I received my payment without any issues.

I’m very happy with the service I received and would definitely recommend MetalPlus to anyone looking to sell a scrap or unwanted car. Great experience overall!

Questions

Questions about dropping off.

If yours is not here, ring us. We would rather answer it than have you drive out for nothing.

Call 0452 220 422
Do I need to book a time?

No. Turn up whenever suits in opening hours: 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday. If you are bringing a very big load it helps to ring ahead so the right gear is free when you arrive, but it is not required.

What time do you close today?

6:30pm Monday to Friday and 5pm on Saturday, and we open at 7am on both. The yard is closed on Sunday. If you are not going to make it before closing, ring ahead and we can arrange a time.

Can I come outside opening hours?

Yes, by arrangement. Ring ahead and tell us when suits, and we can arrange a time outside the normal hours.

Is there a minimum quantity to drop off?

No minimum at all. A boot full of copper offcuts gets weighed the same way a truck load does.

What do I need to bring with me?

Photo ID, which Victorian law requires for scrap metal transactions, and the metal. That is it. You do not need to know what grade anything is.

Do I have to sort it before I come?

No, we sort it here. Separated loads are worth more than mixed ones though, so if it is already in piles it is worth keeping it that way on the trailer.

How do I get paid?

On the spot, the moment you agree the weight on the docket. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week. How scrap metal dealers are allowed to pay is set by Victorian law, and it is worth knowing before you come in.

What the law says about being paid for scrap

Do you take washing machines and fridges?

Not at the moment. Household appliances are on hold while a permit is pending. Everything else is business as usual.

Where exactly are you?

159 Ashley St, Braybrook VIC 3019, in the western suburbs. There is a directions link on this page that will open your maps app.

Got metal sitting there doing nothing?

Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
