You watch the load go on the scales and you see the reading yourself. Nothing gets weighed out the back.
Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.
Two hours after most Melbourne yards shut, 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement if you ring ahead.
A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Werribee
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the households of Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, from the market gardens of Werribee South, and from the builders and trades working the new estates at Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes. Backyard and garage clear-outs, renovation copper, farm machinery and construction offcuts are the regular loads.
Our yard at 159 Ashley St, Braybrook is up the freeway and round the ring road, so a trailer load is easy to drop off: no appointment and no minimum at the gate. A building site can have a bin swapped as it fills, and factories and industrial sites can have a load collected. Graded in front of you, paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Werribee is further out than the suburbs around the yard, but the run in is simple: up the Princes Freeway, onto the Western Ring Road at Laverton North, and Braybrook is a few exits along. A trailer load is an easy trip with no appointment, and a building site can have a bin instead.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Werribee, and roughly who it comes from.
Backyard and garage clear-outs from the established streets of Werribee and Hoppers Crossing: old trampolines, barbecues, bikes, screen doors, shed panels and renovation copper. Aluminium and stainless are worth keeping out of the steel.
Scrap aluminium, by gradeOld irrigation pipe, pumps, implements, machinery and sheds from the farms of Werribee South. Pumps and motors have copper in them and are graded on their own.
Scrap electric motorsRoofing and fencing offcuts, steel framing, pipe and cable from the builds at Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes. The cable is worth more than it looks.
Scrap cable and wireHow it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Werribee started out as Wyndham, a township on the road to Geelong, and had taken its present name from the river by 1884. For much of the 1800s the district was pastoral land, a great deal of it run by the Chirnside family from the Werribee Park mansion they finished in 1878.
After the First World War, soldier settlers and Italian market gardeners took up the land at Werribee South, and the market gardens there are still worked today. The district has farmed vegetables on Melbourne’s doorstep for a century.
The suburbs came from the 1960s. Werribee’s population more than doubled between 1961 and 1971, Hoppers Crossing grew alongside it, and the growth has not really stopped, with Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes still going up. So Werribee produces every kind of load, from a garage clear-out to a farm shed to a building site.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Werribee. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422For most loads, yes. It is freeway most of the way, there is no appointment and no minimum at the gate, and we are open 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
Yes. Old irrigation pipe, pumps, implements and machinery are all metal we buy. Ring with a rough list of what there is before you start, and we will tell you what to expect for it.
Yes. Trampoline frames are steel, and barbecue hoods are often stainless, which pays better. Take the mat and the padding off the trampoline first, and the gas bottle off the barbecue.
Yes, the same way as Werribee: the yard in Braybrook for any amount, a bin for a building site, and pickup for factories and industrial sites.
You are paid on the spot at the yard as soon as the weight is agreed. That is what most people searching for cash for scrap want to know. How a scrap metal dealer in Victoria may pay is set by state law for every yard, and our page on the law explains what it says.
It depends on what is in the load. Copper, brass and aluminium pay well; steel, like shed panels and trampoline frames, is paid by weight, so it adds up on volume. Send a photo through the quote form and we will tell you what to expect before you load up.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
