A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Pakenham
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the farms and acreage around Pakenham, from the builders and trades working the new estates in Pakenham and Officer, and from the businesses in its industrial and employment areas. Old machinery, fencing and sheds, construction offcuts, copper and cable, and stainless from processing plant are the usual loads.
Our yard is in Braybrook, on the far side of Melbourne, and Pakenham gets exactly the same service as the suburbs next to it: factories and industrial sites are collected from, and a trade site can have a bin swapped as it fills. From a house, it is a drive across town to the yard. Weighed in front of you, graded where you can see it, paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Our yard is in Braybrook, so we will not claim to be local to Pakenham. Collection from a factory or an industrial site here works exactly as it does everywhere else, with the same weigh-in and payment as at our gate. From a house, the yard takes any amount, Monday to Saturday, if you are heading across town.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Pakenham, and roughly who it comes from.
Old machinery, implements, mower decks, fencing, gates, stock panels and sheds from the properties around Pakenham. Usually decades of it, so ring and tell us what there is before you start.
Scrap steel and cast ironRoofing and fencing offcuts, steel framing, copper pipe and cable from the estates going up across Pakenham and Officer.
Selling scrap copperStainless benching, conveyor and vessels from food processing upgrades, and offcuts and plant from the industrial estates. Stainless is graded on its own, so keep it apart.
The stainless grades we buyHow it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Pakenham began around 1850 as a coaching stop where the track into Gippsland crossed the creek. The railway arrived in 1877, the district around it filled with dairies, orchards and market gardens, and the town still serves the farming country around it.
Food processing followed the farms: a plant processing green peas and fruit opened in 1952 and later changed hands twice. From the late 1960s Pakenham was part of a planned growth corridor, suburban trains reached it in 1975, and its population went from under 3,000 in 1981 to about 34,000 by 2011.
It has kept growing since, with Officer beside it and new employment precincts south of the freeway bypass. That gives Pakenham a mix few places have: new estates going up beside working farms, with industry growing between them.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Pakenham. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422From factories and industrial sites, yes, on the same terms as anywhere else we go. We do not collect from houses: from Pakenham, Officer or Beaconsfield, the yard in Braybrook takes any amount, Monday to Saturday.
Yes. Old implements, machinery, fencing and sheds are steel, and a farm clear-out usually adds up. Ring and tell us what there is before you start. Batteries, motors and any copper or brass are graded separately, so put them to one side if you can.
Yes. Bins are free on trade sites producing over a tonne, and we swap them as they fill. Tell us the site, the metal and where a bin can sit.
Copper is worth enough per kilo that a small load is still worth money, but from Pakenham the yard is a drive across town. Ring or send a photo and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth the trip.
You are paid on the spot once the weight is agreed. That is usually what a search for cash for scrap is after. How a scrap metal dealer in Victoria may pay is set by state law, the same for every yard, and our page on the law explains it.
No. A load from Pakenham is priced exactly as one from next door to the yard: by the metal, its grade, how clean it is and the weight, at the prices per kg we publish. Ring or send a photo and we will tell you what to expect.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
