A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Brooklyn
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the businesses in Brooklyn’s industrial precinct: transport and container yards, depots, quarry and recycling operators, and the small manufacturers and workshops in between. Worn truck and trailer parts, damaged racking, yard steel and end-of-life plant make up most of it.
Brooklyn is one of the shortest runs we do from Braybrook. A yard that keeps producing scrap can have a bin, swapped before it overflows. A heap that has been building for years is collected, and anything from a house can come to the yard. Graded in front of you, paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Brooklyn sits just south of the yard, on the other side of Tottenham. That makes it one of the easiest runs we do, and it means a business here can have a bin swapped, or a one-off heap collected, without it turning into a day’s planning.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Brooklyn, and roughly who it comes from.
Brake drums, springs, rims, chassis steel and worn trailer parts from the truck and transport yards. Truck batteries and aluminium bodywork are worth keeping out of the steel.
Scrap steel and cast ironDamaged racking, pallet cages, strapping, gates and old fencing from the storage yards and depots. Usually a heap that has been growing for years.
End-of-life machinery, electric motors, tanks and fabrication offcuts from the workshops and small manufacturers. Motors and cable are graded apart from the steel.

Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Brooklyn is mostly industrial. Its industrial precinct holds more than sixty businesses: quarrying, material recycling, transport yards, container storage and a long tail of small manufacturers and workshops. There is a small residential pocket too, but most of the metal that comes to us from Brooklyn comes from businesses.
That mix produces a particular kind of scrap: worn truck and trailer parts, damaged racking and pallet cages, steel from yard repairs and plant that has reached the end of its life. It builds up in a corner of a yard until somebody decides to deal with it, and it is almost always more than they expected.
The precinct has put real work into its dust and its neighbours in recent years, with local operators signing an agreement with EPA Victoria to improve air quality. A scrap bin that is swapped before it overflows is a small part of keeping a yard tidy.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Brooklyn. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422Yes, for anything over a tonne, and there is no charge for the bin. It sits on your site, fills at your pace and we swap it. Ring with the metal, how fast it builds up and where a bin could go.
Yes. Drums, springs, rims, chassis rails and bodywork are all normal loads. Steel, aluminium and batteries are graded separately, so keeping them apart on the ground is worth doing if it is easy.
Because you watch your load go on the scales, you see it graded, and you get the weight on a docket before anything is paid. Being paid on the spot for a weight you saw yourself is the part worth comparing, wherever you take it.
Bring it to the yard. There is no minimum at the gate, and it is a short run from Brooklyn. We are open 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday.
You are paid on the spot once the weight is agreed, whether we take it from your yard or you bring it in. That is usually what people mean by cash for scrap. How a scrap metal dealer in Victoria may pay is set by state law for every yard, and our page on the law explains what it allows.
Heavy steel like drums, springs and chassis rails is paid by weight at steel rates, so the volume is what makes it worthwhile. Aluminium bodywork, truck batteries and cable are paid at their own, higher grades, which is why keeping them out of the steel pays. Ring and we will tell you what to expect.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
