The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.
- Your load is weighed where you can see it. Nothing goes out the back and comes back with a number on it.
- You get a docket with the weight on it. Written down, in your hand, before anything is settled.
- Grades are shown to you, not just quoted. If your copper is two different grades we will separate it in front of you and explain why.

Call 0452 220 422Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?
Just turn up in opening hours: 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday. There is no minimum quantity for a drop off. Outside those hours, ring ahead and we can arrange a time. If you are bringing a big load it helps to ring ahead anyway so we can have the right gear ready.
Where is the yard?
At 159 Ashley St, Braybrook VIC 3019, in Melbourne’s west. Drive in during opening hours and someone will tell you where to pull up. If you are not sure what you have got in the trailer, say so and we will go through it with you.
How do I know I am getting the right weight?
Your load is weighed in front of you. You see the reading on the scale yourself and you get a docket with the weight on it. Nothing gets weighed out the back where you cannot see what is happening.
When do I get paid?
On the spot, as soon as the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anyone up next week.

How much is my scrap metal worth?
It depends on the metal, its grade, how clean it is and how much there is. As a guide: copper $7 to $21 per kg, brass $6 to $13, aluminium $1 to $3.80 and steel $150 to $400 a tonne. Ring or send a photo and we will tell you what to expect for yours.
Do you pick up?
From factories and industrial sites, yes, across Greater Melbourne: their loads are big enough to send a truck for. We do not collect from houses. Bring it to the yard in Braybrook instead, where there is no minimum and no appointment, and you are paid on the spot.
What metals do you take?
All of the common ones. Copper, aluminium, brass, lead, steel, stainless steel, cable and wire, batteries, electric motors, alloy wheels and car bodies. If you are not sure what you have got, send us a photo.
Do you take washing machines and fridges?
Not at the moment. Household appliances are on hold while a permit is pending. Everything else is business as usual.
Do I need to sort my metal before I bring it in?
You do not have to, we sort it here. Clean separated loads are worth more than mixed loads though, so if it is already sorted it is worth keeping it that way.
Do you take scrap cars?
Yes. We take car bodies and end of life vehicles and we can collect them from anywhere in Greater Melbourne.
