You watch the load go on the scales and you see the reading yourself. Nothing gets weighed out the back.
Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.
Two hours after most Melbourne yards shut, 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement if you ring ahead.
A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Dandenong
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the manufacturers, fabricators, caravan and vehicle body builders, food plants and warehouses of Dandenong South, and from the trades and households of Dandenong, Noble Park and Keysborough. Production offcuts, aluminium, stainless, heavy steel and end-of-life plant are the bulk of it.
Our yard is in Braybrook, on the other side of Melbourne, and collection here works exactly as it does next door to us. For a factory that usually means a bin on site, swapped as it fills, with the weights and grades shown to you every time. One-off factory loads are collected and paid for on the spot.
Where the yard is
Our yard is in Braybrook, and we will not pretend that is around the corner. For a factory it does not need to be: the truck comes to an industrial site here on the same terms as one in the west, and a bin is swapped the same way. From a house in Dandenong or Noble Park it is a drive across town, and the yard takes any amount when you make it.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Dandenong, and roughly who it comes from.
Aluminium frame, cladding and checker plate offcuts, and galvanised steel from chassis work. Aluminium is paid well above steel, so it is worth its own bin.
Scrap aluminium, by gradePlate and structural offcuts, press scrap, drops and turnings from the production lines and fabrication floors. Usually bin work rather than pickup work.
Steel recycling and site binsStainless vessels, benching, conveyor and line equipment from plant upgrades, and steel and aluminium packaging waste. Stainless grades vary, and we show you what yours came out as.
Stainless steel recyclingHow it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Dandenong was surveyed in 1852 as a stopping place on the road into Gippsland, and grew up as a market town. A cattle market opened in 1926 and a produce market a year later, and for decades market day brought farmers in from all over the district.
Then the factories came. Heinz arrived in 1947, International Harvester in 1952 and General Motors Holden in 1956, and the work drew thousands of migrants. The land south of the town became Dandenong South, one of the most established industrial precincts in Australia: manufacturing, fabrication, food processing and logistics, and the country’s biggest caravan and RV maker.
Dandenong itself is now one of Melbourne’s great multicultural centres, with Little India and the Afghan Bazaar in its streets, and Noble Park and Keysborough around it. Most of the metal that comes to us from here is industrial, but the households and trades are a steady part of it too.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Dandenong. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422Because collection works the same here as next door to us, so the distance is ours to manage, not yours. What is worth comparing is the part you can see: the load weighed in front of you, the grades shown to you, and payment on the spot.
Yes, and for most factories here that is the right answer. The bin is free on trade and industrial sites, it fills at your pace, and we swap it on a schedule or when you ring. Every swap comes with its own weights and grades.
Yes, in any quantity. Frame tube, extrusion, cladding and checker plate are all good aluminium. Keep it apart from steel and from anything with sealant or timber still attached, because clean aluminium is graded higher.
Bring it to the yard in Braybrook when you are next across town. Pickup is for factories and industrial sites, but the yard takes any amount, with no appointment, open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday. Copper, brass and cable are worth enough per kilo that a small load is still worth money.
You are paid on the spot as soon as the weight is agreed, whether we collect from your site in Dandenong South or you bring a load to Braybrook. That is what most people searching for cash for scrap want to know. How a scrap metal dealer in Victoria may pay is set by state law, the same for every yard; our page on the law explains it.
They are set the same way for everyone: by the metal, its grade, how clean it is and the weight, at the prices per kg we publish. Volume and sorting are what move the number for a factory. A bin of clean aluminium offcuts is worth far more per kilo than the same metal mixed into steel.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
