You watch the load go on the scales and you see the reading yourself. Nothing gets weighed out the back.
Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.
Two hours after most Melbourne yards shut, 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement if you ring ahead.
A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Deer Park
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the builders working Deer Park and the growth estates around it, from the quarry, earthmoving and logistics operations at Ravenhall, and from the households in Deer Park’s established streets. Reo and mesh offcuts, worn plant parts, old sheds and renovation copper are the regular loads.
Our yard is in Braybrook, an easy run in with a trailer, and there is no minimum at the gate. A site that fills a bin can have one on the ground, and the quarry and industrial sites at Ravenhall can have a big one-off load collected. It is all graded in front of you and paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Deer Park and Ravenhall are a little further west than Sunshine, and the yard is in Braybrook on Sunshine’s other side. It is an easy run in with a trailer, and for the industrial sites at Ravenhall, the truck comes out to you.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Deer Park, and roughly who it comes from.
Offcut reo, mesh, steel framing and conduit from the building sites in and around the growth estates. Clean steel with the concrete knocked off is worth more.
Worn bucket teeth, cutting edges, conveyor rollers and crusher wear parts from the plant around Ravenhall. Heavy, and generally bin work.
Old sheds, fencing and renovation copper from the established streets of Deer Park. No minimum at the yard for a trailer load.
How it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Deer Park grew up around Melbourne’s first explosives factory, started in the 1870s beside Kororoit Creek and later run by Nobel and then ICI. The company built houses for its workers in the 1920s, and the suburb grew out from there.
Ravenhall, next door, is quarry and industrial land: one of Melbourne’s biggest basalt quarries, the regional landfill and new logistics estates. Plant that crushes rock and moves earth wears out steel quickly, and the worn parts are scrap.
Deer Park’s own streets mix older houses with newer estates, and the growth areas around it, Caroline Springs, Burnside and Truganina, keep builders busy. Construction offcuts are a steady part of what comes from here.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Deer Park. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422Yes. Reo, mesh, framing, conduit and cable offcuts are normal construction loads. For a site that fills a bin, we drop one on site and swap it as it fills, and there is no charge for the bin.
Yes. Bucket teeth, cutting edges, conveyor parts and whole machines at the end of their life are all steel we buy, and electric motors are graded separately. Ring before a big clear-out and we will tell you whether it is a pickup or a bin.
Yes, the same way as Deer Park and everywhere else we go: pickup for the quarry, industrial and logistics sites, and the yard in Braybrook for any amount from a house.
Yes, once it is down: the frame, the sheeting and the roofing all go as steel. If you need it taken down as well, ring and ask before you book anything.
You are paid on the spot as soon as the weight is agreed, whether it comes off a site in Ravenhall or a trailer from Deer Park. That is usually what people searching for cash for scrap are after. How a scrap metal dealer in Victoria may pay is set by state law for every yard, and our page on the law explains it.
It is worth more clean. Reo and mesh with the concrete knocked off, and framing with no timber attached, go at a better grade than the same steel caked in concrete, because somebody has to clean it either way. Ring with what you have and roughly how much.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
