Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.

A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Melton
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the builders, plumbers, electricians and roofers working Melton’s new estates, from the households of Melton and Melton South, and from the businesses in its industrial areas. Roofing and fencing offcuts, steel framing, copper pipe, cable, old sheds and household scrap are what come in from here.
Our yard at 159 Ashley St, Braybrook is in along the Western Freeway, so a trailer load is easy to drop off, with no appointment and no minimum. A builder filling a bin on site can have one swapped as it fills, and businesses in Melton’s industrial areas can have a one-off load collected. Graded in front of you, paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Melton is further out than the suburbs around the yard, but it is one road most of the way: the Western Freeway brings you in towards Braybrook. A trailer load is an easy trip with no appointment, and it fits around a run into town. For a building site a bin is simpler, and for an industrial site the truck comes out to you.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Melton, and roughly who it comes from.
Roofing and fencing offcuts, light steel framing, copper pipe and cable off the estates going up across Cobblebank, Aintree and Rockbank. The copper and cable are worth keeping out of the skip.
Scrap cable and wireOld sheds, fencing, steel tanks, trailers and machinery from the bigger blocks in older Melton and Melton South. Usually more than the owner expects once it is in one heap.
Scrap steel and roofing ironOffcuts and scrap from the plumbers, electricians, fabricators and workshops in Melton’s industrial areas. Copper and brass off a plumber’s ute are worth bringing in on their own.
What scrap copper is worthHow it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Melton started in the 1850s as a stop on the road to the Ballarat goldfields, and stayed a small farming town for a century: in the 1960s the town and its district had about 300 people. Then Melbourne reached it, and the population quadrupled between 1966 and 1971.
It has not slowed down since. In 2024–25 the City of Melton grew faster than any other council in Australia, adding 12,673 people, and whole new suburbs, Cobblebank, Strathtulloh and Aintree among them, are going up where there were paddocks.
Every one of those houses produces offcuts while it is being built: roofing, fencing, framing, pipe and cable. Older Melton and Melton South supply the established side, with sheds, fencing and renovations, and the industrial land around Cobblebank keeps growing alongside the estates.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Melton. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422For a trailer load, usually yes. It is one road most of the way, there is no appointment and no minimum at the gate, and we are open 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday.
Yes. Roofing and fencing offcuts, steel framing, pipe and cable are normal construction loads. For a builder running several sites, a bin on each, free on trade sites and swapped as it fills, is simpler than trailer runs.
Most of it, if it is metal: old sheds once they are down, steel tanks, fencing, trailers, car bodies and machinery. Batteries, motors and cable are graded separately, so put them to one side. Ring with a rough list and we will tell you what to expect before you load the trailer.
From factories and industrial sites, yes, the same as everywhere else we go. From a house or a building site, the yard in Braybrook takes any amount, and a builder can have a bin.
You are paid on the spot once the weight is agreed, at our gate or on your site. That is what most people searching for cash for scrap are asking about. How a scrap metal dealer may pay in Victoria is set by state law, the same for every yard, and our page on the law explains what it says.
No different from anywhere else: a load from Melton is priced on the metal, its grade, how clean it is and the weight, at the prices per kg we publish. On building offcuts the money is in the copper and cable, so keep them out of the steel and out of the skip. Send a photo and we will tell you what to expect.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
