Settled the moment the weight is agreed. No invoice to wait on and nobody to chase next week.

A boot load is weighed the same way as a truck load. Factories and industrial sites, we collect.
Scrap metal recycling, Campbellfield
Metal Plus buys scrap metal from the manufacturers, fabrication and engineering shops, transport businesses and warehouses along the Hume Highway through Campbellfield and Somerton, and from the homes around Broadmeadows and Coolaroo. Pressings, offcuts, turnings, chassis and trailer steel, castings and worn-out plant are the usual loads.
Our yard is in Braybrook, round the Western Ring Road, so most Campbellfield scrap comes to us on our trucks rather than on a trailer. A site producing scrap every week can have a bin on the ground, swapped as it fills, and a one-off factory clear-out is collected. Either way the weights and grades are shown to you, and you are paid on the spot.
Where the yard is
Campbellfield sits where the Western Ring Road crosses the Hume Highway, and our yard in Braybrook is near the same ring road on the western side. The northern estates are a regular run for our trucks rather than a special trip, so the useful conversation is what you have and how fast it builds up. From a house, the yard takes any amount, Monday to Saturday.
What we see from here
This is what turns up from Campbellfield, and roughly who it comes from.
Chassis and trailer steel, mudguards, pressings, brake parts and castings from the automotive and transport businesses along the highway. Cast aluminium is graded apart from the steel, so keep it to one side.
Scrap steel and cast ironSheet and plate offcuts, drops, bar ends and turnings from the shops in the Campbellfield and Somerton estates. Stainless kept apart from mild steel is paid at its own grade.
The stainless grades we buyPresses, compressors, conveyors and line equipment coming out at the end of their life or on a refit. Electric motors and cable are worth separating before the rest goes as steel.
Scrap electric motorsHow it works
Tell us roughly what you have got. A photo from your phone is usually enough for us to say whether it is worth bringing in and what to expect.
Drive it into the Braybrook yard Monday to Saturday, or at another time by arrangement. Any amount, and no appointment. Factories and industrial sites can book a pickup instead.
Your load goes on the scales while you watch. You see the reading and you get the docket. Nothing is weighed out the back where you cannot see it.
Sorted the moment the weight is agreed. You are not waiting on an invoice and you are not chasing anybody next week.
Three ways to sell
Pull in, get weighed, get paid. No appointment and no minimum. We are open until 6:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, and after hours by arrangement.
For factories and industrial sites across Greater Melbourne. Tell us what the site produces and roughly how much, and we will bring the right truck.
Scrap bins dropped on site for jobs over a tonne. Factories, demolition, construction and site clearance. We swap them out as they fill.
Weighing and payment
The single most common worry people have about selling scrap is that the weight will not be right and there is no way to check. So we took the question off the table.

Where we go
Campbellfield was farmland, named after two Campbell families who took it up in the 1840s, until 1956, when land between the railway and the Hume Highway went to Ford for a motor assembly plant. It became the largest motor assembly complex in the country, and in the mid-1990s it employed about 4,000 people.
The last Australian-built Falcon came off the line in October 2016. The industry around it did not leave with it: Campbellfield is still mainly industrial, its estates full of manufacturers, fabricators, engineering shops, transport operators and warehouses, and part of the old Ford land is being turned into a new industrial estate.
That makes it one of the steadiest sources of scrap in the north, with production offcuts every day, plant replaced on a refit, and vehicle and trailer steel from the transport businesses. Around the estates, Broadmeadows and Coolaroo add the household side: sheds, fencing and renovation copper.

Questions
The ones we get asked most from Campbellfield. Anything else, ring and ask.
Call 0452 220 422Yes. Campbellfield and Somerton are a regular run for our trucks. Ring with what you have, roughly how much, and where a truck can get to it.
Yes, for a trade site producing over a tonne, and the bin is free on industrial and workshop sites. It sits on your site, fills at your pace and we swap it. Tell us the metal, how quickly it builds up and where a bin could go.
Yes: chassis rails, axles, springs, drums, mudguards and bodywork all go. Steel, cast aluminium, batteries and radiators are each graded separately, so if they are easy to keep apart on the ground, it is worth doing.
Yes, at the yard. Pickup is for factories and industrial sites, so from a house, bring it to Braybrook: there is no minimum at the gate, and we are open 7am to 6:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on Saturday.
You are paid on the spot when the weight is agreed, whether the load leaves your site on our truck or comes in on your trailer. Most people searching for cash for scrap are asking exactly that. The way a scrap metal dealer may pay is set by Victorian law and is the same at every yard; our page on the law explains it.
The same as anywhere we buy: the price depends on the metal, its grade, how clean it is and how much there is, at the prices per kg we publish. For production scrap, sorting pays, because clean stainless, aluminium and copper each go at their own grade rather than being averaged down with the steel.
Ring us and we will tell you what it is worth and whether it is worth bringing in. Takes two minutes and it costs you nothing to ask.
